Firstly – no you won’t be at a disadvantage for not speaking a 2nd language. Any activities that demonstrate your ”teamwork” skills and ”leadership” skills will put you in a good position. Such as being part of the school council etc. My only extracurricular activity was being part of a football team, that’s all i had. Other than that i had done alot of work experience and think this (after your grades of course) is the most important in differentiating you from other candidates. Try to get as much work experince as you can, which would allow you to be with the public. I volunteered at Oxfam, Hospital, Surgery, Old peoples home (which was rubbish) and a Dentist (i was considering dentistry aswell at the time) Good Luck.
