What expiration date is used on the repackaged product?
Beyond use dating is established on a drug by drug basis prior to the start of repackaging. Most repackaged drug products are assigned a beyond use date of twelve (12) months, not to exceed manufacturer’s expiration. Some drugs have shortened beyond use dates of 6 months, not to exceed 25% of the remaining manufacturer’s expiration. There are a few drugs that the manufacturer limits the expiration to a specific number of days or states that the drug cannot be repackaged at all. Overbagged products maintain the manufacturer’s expiration date since they remain sealed in the manufacturer’s package.
