What experiments need to be conducted in order to acquire the necessary empirical engine data?
Most OEMs have the required data (standard static engine mapping data and spark-torque/lambda-torque sweeps) for each engine readily available. This data is used by OEMs to calibrate numerous features of the engine controller (e.g., volumetric efficiency, MBT spark, etc.). The attached document illustrates the experimental schemes used to procure this data (for a PFI application).
