What experiences might one encounter at the Challenger Learning Center of Kentucky?
ONLY blasting off for a simulated experience of flying a space mission to Rendezvous With a Comet or Voyage to Mars. You will become participants in a NASA team of scientists, engineers, and technicians, all critical components of completing a successful space mission. During the mission, you will be assigned to work in either our “Mission Control” simulator or our “Space Station” simulator. These simulators look and feel like real NASA machinery and are equipped with research computers, robots, remote gloveboxes, NASA star charts, video cameras and monitors. Astronauts and mission controllers have to communicate and work together as a team to successfully complete their 2.5-hour mission. At other special events you might study Martian dirt, build a space probe, map a planet, see how big the sun is, see a model of the space shuttle and International Space Station, and see the rings of Saturn through a telescope.
