Eligible dependents and survivors of Virginia veterans can receive waivers of 100% of tuition and required fees (for example, enrollment, graduation, and lab fees) at state-supported schools in Virginia. In conjuction with the Virginia Military Survivors and Dependents Education Program, the Virginia Military Survivors and Dependent Education Fund (VMSDEF) provides a stipend to help pay for room, board, books, and supplies. Recipients are eligible for up to four years of benefits. The amount of the award each year is dependent on funding and is reduced by the amount of other financial aid received by the recipient.
