What exceptions exist to Copyright protection?
In general, any exploitation for private use, the use of short fragments, or for educational or reasearch purposes of a work, is considered non-violent of an author“s copyright. Quoting and transcribing specific segments of a work available to the public, as well as reproducing through visual means, any painting, statue or monument, is also perfectly legal. In the case of news clips; the information contained in them is not protected by copyrgiht, but in order for third parties to use such information, the original source must be cited. Similarly, one can freely distribute a public discourse, but not translate it into writing or any other venue without the author“s consent. Codes, Acts, laws and other legal documents of such nature are not bound to Copyright protection either.
