What exactly would i need to do to become a zoo keeper?
Most zoos are more interested in experience with animals than in qualifications. Having said that, most like you to have at least a C in English and Maths, and a good grade in the sciences, especially Biology, will help – this is at GCSE level in the UK. I think this is standard high school in the US, but I’m not exactly sure of the requirements there. The best thing you can do if you want to be a zookeeper is start getting experience as soon as you can – volunteer at an animal rescue centre, vet, stables, zoo, etc. (you may have to be 16 or even 18 before they’ll take you at some places). You do not necessarily need a degree, at least not in the UK – most people who’ve been to university for several years do not want a minimum-wage job picking up poop, which is basically what zookeeping is. It’s not about cuddling baby tigers and training elephants. It’s a dirty job involving hard physical labour in all seasons and weathers, not to mention lots of poop and other unpleasant substances,
