What exactly is wrong with socialism?
Nothing – they have just turned the word into a bogeyman, like liberal. Thomas Jefferson was a liberal – was he bad? No, he wrote our Declaration of Independence (which is a pretty liberal document) We already have some socialist programs in the US, such as unemployment benefits. medicare, and social security – there are plenty. The public schools are run similarly – where the money is divided as needed, not kept for the wealthy only. There is nothing wrong with capitalism balanced with socialism – it keeps the nation healthy. If we do not look after our citizens well – the economy and the country will suffer. Look at Canada, which is in much better shape than the US just now. They have a system similar to ours but with safe guards and decent healthcare – and they don’t have as much of a budget to spend at times.
