What exactly is WFM?
WFM is a business change programme that will enhance the operational readiness of the vehicle and equipment fleets and enable their more efficient use across defence. WFM will be enabled by the second increment of the IS, JAMES 2, which will provide real-time global visibility of assets, which in conjunction with improved storage conditions, will deliver greater optimisation and utilisation of fleets, redress support costs and improve equipment availability. In practice this will mean having two fleets; an active fleet and a stored fleet. The active fleet will be one where unit holdings will be reduced to a size that is optimised for unit-level training. All other vehicles will be stored in a controlled humidity environment and allocated to units when there is a specific requirement to meet higher-level training and operational commitments.
