What exactly is the Federal Work-Study Program, and how does it work?
Statutory Authority The Federal Work-Study (FWS) Program was originally authorized by the Economic Opportunity Act of 1964. The Higher Education Amendments of 1968 transferred the statutory authority for the program to the Higher Education Act of 1965, as amended. The program is currently authorized under Part C, Title IV, of the Higher Education Act of 1965, as amended by the Education Amendments of 1968, 1972, 1976, 1980, 1986 and 1993.
