What Exactly is Teen Life Coaching?
Just as personal trainers are often used to help people get their bodies into better shape, life coaching is something many people use to get their lives into better shape. The personal trainer works alongside the trainee to develop goals and to provide encouragement and motivation along the way to achieving these goals. As a teen life coach, I work in much this same way. My first goal is to develop a deep understanding of my client, including his or her strengths, passions, limitations, personality style, interests, current challenges, short term goals, and long term aspirations. With this knowledge, I work on an individual basis with each client to determine the focus of coaching sessions, and to customize a coaching plan. Possible areas of focus may include career exploration, academic performance, college search and planning, social issues (lack of social network, assertiveness training etc.), self image, time management and stress management.
