What exactly is Sushi?
some sushi does contain raw fish but in other cases the fish is cooked. Some sushi has cooked tofu instead of fish. Sushi is actually a term that means “with rice”. It does not mean “raw fish”. The green stuff in sushi is seaweed. It has a salty taste. And the green stuff on the side is wasabi which is Japanese horseradish and has a sharp taste (use it sparingly). You often will also get pickled ginger with your sushi, especially if you get it as a takeaway pack from a supermarket. I like many different kinds of sushi… eel, salmon, tuna, octopus, and california rolls (which usually have crab, avocado, carrot and cucumber) are my favorites. I also like the individual sushi pieces with just carrot, or avocado, or cucumber, inside the rice and seaweed (none of which would contain the fish). There is a type of sushi called a “hand roll” which has the seaweed on the outside (the “roll” is in a cone shape) and that contains Japanese mayonnaise. I don’t like these though, as I don’t like ma
