What exactly is Software-as-a-Service (SaaS)?
Most applications that were initially made available over the web were ASP (Application Service Provider) model. In most cases, these applications are purchase-model software that were tweaked in order to provide access over the web. Because most ASP software was not written as a web-native application, performance can be poor and software updates are often no better than self managed applications. By comparison, web-native SaaS applications such as ClinicSuite are updated regularly, and often daily.
