What exactly is Indie or Alternative music?
Here it goes. Indie was originally any music that was by an artist with an independent record label. Now it has widened to include bands that sound like these bands. Bands include Arcade Fire, Arctic Monkeys, Broken Social Scene and more. Alt-rock (or alternative) is a subgenre of rock. It became big in the 90s with bands like Nirvana and Pearl Jam. I’ll give you 5 examples of each, with a link to the video.
