What exactly is humanism?

0

Humanism is a belief system which advocates certain ethics and morals. Humanism (particularly secular humanism) claims that it is not a religion and is based on rationality alone. However, it is extremely similar to a religion no matter how you look at it. It lacks a divinity or mysticism, but it still advocates its own code of morals, which supposedly are derived from “innate human values”. These values are based on revised judeo-christian values, emotions, and social control. There is no rational reason to believe Humanist values over any other moral code, so by my definition it is a religion. It is also a social phenomena, it is very popular for atheists to declare themselves humanists.
