What exactly is endowment?
Endowment is a financial base of investments upon which the university depends to fund its operations. What makes endowment so important is its permanence. Because only the earnings on a carefully managed endowment are spent, Lehigh is guaranteed the funding necessary to grow and develop. Unrestricted endowment also gives the university the flexibility to use the income for what is determined to be the highest priority, allowing Lehigh to take advantage of opportunities to expand and evolve over time.
