What exactly is an EPOXY surfboard?
An Island Glass epoxy board is made with hand-shaped EPS (expanded polystyrene) foam and hand-glassed using Epoxy aluzine resins. As we know, most on the market are considered “pop-outs”… what makes it a “pop-out”? “Pop-out” boards are molded epoxy and cannot be customized. They also have limited flexablity, but they are very strong and very affordable. Can you hand shape an Epoxy surfboard? Yes, I handshape EPS foam with PVC stringers. This allows me to customize boards up to 16′ long and 34″ wide. The possibilities are endless. Can an epoxy board have a stringer? All Island Glass Surfboards have PVC stringers. This gives more flex to the board without it breaking. Major differences between a “pop-out” and an Island Glass surfboard? Island Glass boards are made in the good ol’ USA, not other foreign countries. We support the local market using only materials from Hawaii and producing 100% of our boards on the west side of Oahu.
