What exactly is a “seasoned” tank?
I hope you haven’t added any expensive fish to your tank without having seasoned it. Ground water, such as from a well, or tap water treated by a water processing plant is not suitable for tropical fish keeping without treating it for minerals or purifying chemicals. “The Guide” will lead you through purifying your water before adding it to your tank. Once you have neutralized the toxic chemicals and/or removed the harmful minerals you are now ready to season your tank. You see, even when you have purified your water it is not capable of supporting your fish in a closed environment like a tank. You need to provide the water with a means of removing the ammonia from waste produced by your fish and uneaten food. This is the primary purpose of your biological filter.
