What exactly is a “cookie”?
A “cookie” is a piece of information, which is passed back and forth between a client browser and a Web server. Cookies allow the browser to store information required by the server, e.g., a login name and password. Minerva cookies affect only Web browser access to Minerva, not to other web sites. Cookies normally expire. The cookie used for the Web Access Management feature expires when the client browser is closed, or until 12:00 A.M. midnight server time. If you are using Internet Explorer (IE), make sure your security settings are set to medium or medium-low. If you are using a high speed dial up service like high speed NetZero or an “accelerator” service, you may need to turn off this service before accessing Minerva or the Library’s MARVEL! databases. When in doubt, use the browser configuration guide to properly adjust your browser.
