What Exactly Is A Chalice Circle?
A Chalice Circle is a group of seven to nine church members and pledging friends. Each circle has a trained facilitator and a co-facilitator responsible for providing both the structure and opportunity for spontaneity necessary to achieve the goals of the circle. Circles generally meet twice per month at church or in members’ homes to discuss topics of spiritual and personal significance. The circles each have an established covenant for maintaining positive, respectful and productive means of being with each other. There is a chalice lighting, opening words, sounding of the gong and silence for reflection. A “check-in” follows where each member is invited to share how they are truly feeling about their life in recent days. Members then discuss the selected topic. The gathering concludes with a “check-out” and closing words. In order for continuity and emotional safety, Chalice Circle members are asked to make a minimum commitment of 6 months to the circle they join. Members may remain
