What exactly does the term mature student mean?

0

It usually refers to students that are either: 1) over 25 2) married or have children 3) are veterans Students in this category are generally not required to submit SAT/ACT scores and their HS transcripts are only considered to determine that they do have a HS diploma. It’s assumed that students in this category have different needs than students in the “traditional student” category and that they are able to more accurately determine their ability to benefit. Some forms of financial aid are more difficult for we ‘non-traditional students’ but other types are easier for us. Generally speaking, being in this category helps with gaining admission.
