What exactly does the American Cancer Society offer to patients and caregivers?
We have made significant progress toward our goal of reaching every newly diagnosed patient in New York and New Jersey with prompt, reliable information and compassionate support. In addition to answering calls to 1.800.ACS.2345, we now partner with nearly 100 large health care systems throughout New York and New Jersey for automatic referral of new patients who give their consent for us to call. American Cancer Society patient services focus on easing the journey from the date of diagnosis to long-term survival. A network of Hope Lodges throughout the nation – including our newest, largest facility in Manhattan – provide free lodging and support to those who travel to major cancer centers for specialized treatment unavailable at home. Other local programs often connect long-term survivors with newly diagnosed patients. These include Reach to Recovery, Road to Recovery, Man to Man and Look Good…Feel Better.
