What exactly does Disciplinary Probation, Deferred Suspension from the Residence Halls and Deferred Suspension from the University mean?
Disciplinary Probation is the least severe, and typical first, sanction. It’s a period of time during which a student must show that he or she can abide by all the rules of the University. The responsibility is on the student to be aware of and follow the Code of Conduct. While there is nothing specific that a student is prohibited from doing while on Disciplinary Probation (such as attending sporting events or being involved in extracurricular activities), a student’s judicial record may impact acceptance to certain University positions (such as becoming a Resident Assistant or Blue Hen Ambassador) or programs (such as Study Abroad). While no one will be trailing the student around or checking to be sure he or she is following all policies, it is important the student be very careful about his or her behavior and think critically about choices and decisions, because a subsequent guilty outcome will result in more severe sanctions.
