A SDH is assigned a dog team. You are responsible for a certain section of the perimeter of an air base or an army base and it’s your job to protect it from enemy infiltration. You are basically an early warning system. Do you always work with the same dog? You always work with the same dog but you are assigned to a different post every night so the dog doesn’t become familiar with his surroundings. Why don’t you want a dog to become familiar with a certain area? It’s like anything else – the more familiar you become with something, the more lax you become. And dogs are pretty much the same way.
