What exactly does a live sound engineer do?

0

Sound engineers can have many different roles. In a small venue the sound engineer will be responsible for setting up the sound system, mixing bands and probably making sure the band gets on stage on time. In a larger venue, or on a big tour the jobs tend to get split up. There maybe an engineer who just mixes the bands (the best bit). An engineer that just sets up the sound of the system (system tech) and an engineer who just mixes the monitors (the speakers that produce sound for the band to hear them selves) they are called the monitor engineer. In general the live sound engineers job is to reproduce the sound on stage and provide a pleasant listening experience for the audience. I write about this on my blog regularly and give advice to engineers and bands that are just starting out.
