What exactly does a cardiologist do? Like what does this job consit of doing?
It depends on the type of cardiologist. 1. General Cardiology– read electrocardiograms, echocardiograms and take care of patients with heart disease..i.e. heart attacks, heart failure etc. 2. Electrophysiologists– diagnose problems with the hearts conduction system and destroy abnormal pathways or put in pacemakers/defibrillators. 3. Lipidologists– These folks are cardiologists that specialize in the study and treatment of cholesterol and the various molecules that cause heart disease that kills most americans.
