What exactly did the marshall plan (truman doctrine…) affect the cold war?
The Truman Doctrine was a poorly backed direct threat to the Soviet communists. Its purpose was to stop the pressure that the soviet powers were putting on Greece in Egypt. The Marshall Plan was going to be a joint U.S.- U.S.S.R. effort, but the U.S.S.R. openly refused. The success of the Marshall Plan made the U.S. the good guys and the U.S.S.R. the bad guys. Never before had America been so loved and with the reconstruction of Europe the spread of Communism stopped. The doctrine and reconstruction plan fueled the fire for the cold war and also allowed the U.S. to have a head start on the defeat of Soviet Russia.
