What exactly are the duties of a condo president of an association?
Well, most of the time, it’s a volunteer position – and it’s basically to run the board meetings. Each association can define duties however they like. It’s not the president’s fault that the snow didn’t get shoveled off. You’re not going to get the “association” to pay your deductible. If they did, they’d have to pay EVERYONE’S deductible, and you’d see a massive increase in the association fees. If you don’t like the way that your volunteer president manages things, YOU need to run for president, and put in all the hours, unpaid. And heck, get up on the roof to shovel the snow. OR, you can propose that your association hires a MANAGEMENT company, and increases association fees accordingly, to pay the management company. It’s probably going to run $1000 per unit per year, for a management company, so divide that by 12 to get your increased fee amount.
