The house of Lords was fine as it originally was before Labour started fiddling. It had the advantage of being filled with people who had a range of abilities, and attitudes to politics. This meant that if the government came up with legislation that the people would view as stupid or unfair mostly it was thrown out. Since Blair has filled the place with his cronies it is a waste of space, a bit like Blair and his government, both of which now need to be removed.
