What evidence may be collected from a sexual assault victim for DNA analysis?
• Sexual assault victim(s) must be medically examined in a hospital or a physicians office using a standard sexual assault evidence kit to collect sexual assault evidence. • Evidence collection may include the following: • Underwear • Debris • Dried Secretions • Fingernail scrapings • Known blood sample • Oral Swab or smear • Pulled Head Hair • Public Hair combing • Vaginal swabs and smears • Anal swabs and smears • Refrigerate and submit the evidence as soon as possible to the Laboratory.
