What evidence is there that Avandia®raises the risk of heart-related injuries?
On May 21, 2007, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration issued a formal safety alert regarding the potential increased risk of heart attack and heart-related death caused by Avandia® use. The warning was prompted by a review of studies, conducted by cardiologist Steven Nissen of the Cleveland Clinic, in which it was found that Avandia® significantly increased the risks of heart attack.
