Hi TheT, Beliefs systems are about people. They are about seeking something greater than ourselves. It is about trying to explain the world we perceive and wonder how it all came to be. Men for millennia have looked outwards to explain earthy happenings. Men have also tried to press perceived deities for good crops, fertile females and good health! Pagan rituals and beliefs have permeated the bible and are really mixed in with other cultural, historic, societal, law making and beliefs that are mixed up in biblical messages and writings. So from early times men looked for help in their needs by offering sacrifices on alters and worshiping a deity for gain. The Catholic Church still to this day states in the Mass that it hopes God will accept this sacrifice. The bible was never meant to be taken literary. Since there are plenty of archeological references that scientifically and historically provide evidence that the Bible references are true, there exists many individuals throughout the planet that have life changing personal experiences through their personal relationships with the Christian God that verify His existence.
