I don’t know if you consider fiberglass insulation an everyday material or not, but you can buy it at any hardware store and it would work well. If you really want to use something that is readily available at home, I’d try pillows. Blankets and sleeping bags would be good too, but the thicker the better. Any kind of soft foam material would work well. If you want something cheap, and if you have plenty of space, closed boxes will work. (Though not as well as the other materials.) Build walls out of empty boxes. The bigger the box and the thicker the cardboard, the better it will muffle sound. But you have to tape the boxes tightly together so that there are no gaps for sound to get through. One more important thing… cut a small hole in each box, on the outside of the “wall.” This way, much of the sound vibration transmited to the inside the box will travel out the hole instead of vibrating the opposite side of the box, which is the inside of your “wall.” Experiment with the size of
