What Ever Happened To “The Customer Is Always Right”?
Today, I received an email from an online “marketer” (and I use the term loosely). It wasn’t a spectacular letter but I decided to check out the sales page anyway. It turns out that the sales page was actually interesting. This site was offering an e-book that really sounded interesting so I decided to buy it. I clicked through to the order page and began filling out my information. As it turned out, this “marketer” was using a payment service that I really didn’t like. The service had some awkward terms and conditions and it required you to become a member before you could purchase anything. This service also charged the customer a “transaction fee” in addition to the price of the e-book. This wasn’t a sales tax or anything like that. It was a transaction fee. They charged the fee regardless of your method of payment. I decided not to buy the e-book and instead, sent the “marketer” a polite note saying that I was interested in his product but that I didn’t like the method of payment.
