The 16-bit Microsoft ISAM driver in Access 2.0, VB 4.0, and earlier allowed direct access to Btrieve data created by programs generally using the Btrieve API. However, Microsoft dropped the ISAM driver and substituted the ODBC API in Access 95, VB 5.0, and later.
