Some main ones were: 620-660 Arab Conquest 800 Charlemagne crowned first Holy Roman Emperor 1054 Split between the Catholic Church and the Greek Orthodox Church 1097-1291 The Crusades and the Crusader States 1220-1260 Conquests of Genghis Khan and the Mongols 1336-1453 Hundred Years War 1348-1350 Black Death 1378-1417 Papal Schism 1453 Fall of Constantinople to the Ottoman Turks 1455-1485 Wars of the Roses 1492 Completion of the Spanish Reconquista Medieval History is generally taken to end in 1492 with the discovery of the New World by Columbus. Thus the Tudors, with the exception of Henry VII, fall outside of the Medieval period.
