Unless you’re willing to shell out some “real” money, you’re stuck with those cheesy, “cheap” plastic glasses. There are only two ways to “see” in 3D when viewing two 2D images superimposed on one another which creates the effect. One is with a pair of glasses that have different colored lenses, one being blue and the other being red. The other is with each lens covered with a polarizing filter oriented differently from one another. In explaining it to a layman or a person who knows nothing about it, the basic idea is this: The camera that shoots the image has two lenses which are set apart about 2-1/2″. This is called the interocular. The left lens is covered with a red filter or a polarizer, and the right lens with a blue one or another polarizer. When the scene is shot this actually creates two image, one slightly offset from the other, left-right. When the image is viewed by a person wearing the proper glasses, each eye “only” sees the image created by the filter on each glass lens
