There are two point of care (finger stick) blood testing devices approved for use in the WorkHealth check: • Cholestech LDX, distributed by Inverness Medical, and • CardioCheck, distributed by Point of Care Diagnostics. WorkHealth has established the following set of standards which endorsed service providers must follow for point of care testing: • Manufacturer specifications exist to show that the non-analytical features of the device are suitable for WorkHealth checks, including total and HDL cholesterol ratios, • The selected device holds current Cholesterol Reference Method Laboratory Network (CRMLN) certification that aligns with the analytical specifications required for clinical purposes, and • The analytical specifications can meet the analytical goals identified by WorkHealth in the point of care testing standards on quality control and quality assurance requirements.
