What equipment is required?
A bench, bar, 2 dumbbell collars (that allow you to add and subtract weight plates in order to manipulate resistance), and free weights comprise the minimum required setup to follow the program. A Power Rack is beneficial (enhances results by allowing you to take exercises to failure) as is a high/low pulley machine (to allow for training the back and triceps), but these pieces of equipment are not required (although they will improve progress).
USAHIL requires that all players have the following equipment to participate in any USAHIL-sanctioned event: inline skates, helmet (HECC approved), full face mask (HECC approved), colored (non-clear) internal mouth guard, elbow pads, gloves designed for hockey, knee and shin protector designed for hockey, and a hockey stick.
At a minimum, Raters will need to have a blower door and Duct Blaster™. Blower doors are used to measure the air-tightness of the home and assist the rater in identifying the location of the major leaks. A Duct Blaster™ is used to measure the tightness of duct systems. The Energy Conservatory is a major supplier of building pressure diagnostic equipment. There are, of course, other manufacturers. Visit The Energy Conservatory’s web site for more details. The approximate cost for a blower door and Duct Blaster™ including several important accessories is $5,000. A thermal imaging camera (Infrared camera) $4,500-$8,500 is optional.
