Bendix/King has responded to this mandate with the KGP 560, KGP860, Mark XXI Enhanced Ground Proximity Warning systems for General Aviation. The GA EGPWS incorporates GPS Position information with terrain/obstacle database, look ahead algorithms, multilevel alerting to Give the most advanced protection against CFIT ever available for general aviation. The features in the GA EGPWS exceed the requirements. They include terrain display, peaks mode, Geometric altitude, and a built in GPS receiver which eliminates the need for an external GPS. The Terrain alerting and display provides a six color display at ranges 0 to 240 nautical miles. The Peaks Mode displays both numerical and graphically. Additionally the Runway Clearance Floor provides 360-degree coverage of terrain and obstacles within 5 nm of public runways that exceed 2000 feet. The units require minimal inputs consisting of power and pressure altitude.
