Regular shotshells, you come out better and cheaper by simply buying promo ammo from Walmart etc. Slugs and buckshot, though, you’d be stupid to not reload your own. Store-bought buck and slugs run more than a buck a pop. Minimum of $6 for a box of five. Ace’s example of $50 for 25 pounds of lead sounds high, but that 25 pounds translates into 400 slugs at a dollar per. Considering that lead can be gotten much lower to cast than it can in bags of shot, that’s even more saved cash. Your minimum, maximum, and all you’ll ever need to reload shotshells on your own is a Lee Load all 2 like Andy suggested. That’ll run you $35. A bag of wads, powder, shot, primers etc and you can figure on $130-150 approx to start. Slugs and buck, you’ll need a cheap furnace to melt your lead and molds….those can run you another $100 but they can pay for themselves in a single evening. Like I said, shotshells, nopers….not unless you’re just bored and want to load your own just to say you did it….but slu
