What engine modifications do diesel engines require to accept biodiesel?
Depends on the engine you have, most engines require minimal modification to run, but slightly more to maintain the same drivability as a diesel engine. The typical modifications include minor retuning and cleaning of the gas tank in older cars as biodiesel is a solvent and will clean out the silt that lies at the bottom sending it into your fuel line. Biodiesel also gels at warmer temperatures than regular diesel. Various heater schemes are available to help with starting during cold. Rubber fuel line hoses must be replaced with more modern materials, such as Viton, as biodiesel acts as a solvent and will dissolve rubber.
