What encompasses the duties of oncology nursing?
Debbie Taylor: The care and treatment of patients diagnosed with oncology malignancies and/or hematological diseases. How long have you been an oncology nurse? How has your practice improved with experience? I have worked in oncology for about 10 years and had oncology certification for 5 of those years. I would like to believe my practice has improved to the point I now can mentor other nurses entering the field. I have a goal to at least pique the interest of nursing students observing our facility. And a good mentor, as I have had, would advise other nurses of the need to perform self-care; nursing, especially oncology nursing, is an emotionally and physically demanding field. What got you interested in oncology nursing? My interest in oncology began amidst a transition time at my facility.
