Program funding can cover Mandatory Employment Related Costs (MERCS) that include: Employment Insurance (EI); Canada Pension Plan (CPP)/Quebec Pension Plan (QPP); Health and Education Tax; vacation pay; Adjustment for Workers Compensation (AWC), and the Quebec Parental Insurance plan (for projects in Quebec only). OLES will cover the percentage an organization pays for these specific costs, except for CPP and EI -which must be based on actual percentages or actual costs per individual up to the maximum allowable annual contribution. As well, program funding can cover supplementary benefit costs that are negotiated into the agreement at the outset (never later on), and can include all expenditures covered by an organizations’ collective agreement, including extra benefits not found under MERCs.
