What else should designers consider when choosing a fingerprint scanning technology?

Peter Beckles 2 months ago Feb 26, 2011 Ideally the fingerprint ID system should be installed completely on a card. The card is active as long as it is held in a certain manner and inactive when not physically held. When held, the card is active and will energize any Wiegand or other standard reader. The reader will respond as long as the card is properly held by someone with the proper Biometric characteristics. I can visualize such a system working with capacitive sensors so that the holder’s print “resonates” with the embedded print to make the stripe active.
