What else did Humphrey Davy contribute to the scientific community?
Davy first prepared nitrous oxide, N2O, otherwise known as laughing gas (a property he discovered) and he had parties where friends partook in inhaling N2O which is still done today (not by Davy). N2O is still used as an anesthetic today. He nearly blinded himself trying to isolate NCl3. He hired Faraday (a still greater scientist) as a technical assistant, but became envious of Faraday as Faraday became more famous than him. Lectures carried at at the Royal Institution by Davy, who was very handsome, were attended by the young ladies of the day, because they could not go abroad because of that guy Napoleon. He was the pop star of the day. Lectures are still performed today for the public at the Royal Institution (at least I hope so).
