What elements of Nietzschean philosophy are evident within the Hippie Movement?
I think you just created all of this in your head. Not everything counter-cultural is Nietzschean. “Anti-conformist” is an extraordinarily broad category, including everything from religious fundamentalists (who refuse to conform to what they see as an atheistic and materialistic mainstream society) to Marxists who reject capitalist values as perpetuated in mainstream culture industries. I also think it is inaccurate to characterize individualism as a necessary part of the Hippie movement. While some Hippies espoused individualism, communal norms were/are at least as prevalent if not more so. I also do not understand why you think that Nietzsche would not have supported peace movements. He certainly did not advocate war, and his idea of the ubermensch was that of the genius artist who rises above herd mentalities, not of a warmonger, and as such has more in common with contemporary anti-war movements than you might suspect. Nietzsche opposed the militant nationalism of his day. I also
It would be more accurate to say that the hippie movement has elements of Anarchism/Marxism/Communism within it. A nietzschean reading might point to the anti-authoritarian aspects of it, and it’s self-reinventing character. I wouldn’t say they were highly individualistic, communal sentiments seemed to permeate throughout the entire movement.
