What elective options exist for Brophy students?
Technically, there are only two semesters reserved for elective classes throughout the four years. However, there are plenty of electives within graduation requirements. For example, though Brophy requires 2.5 credits of Fine Arts, the only required class is IFA; the other four semesters are open to choice. (And if a student goes the music route, IFA isn’t even required) Honors or AP courses are available in most departments if students qualify. 3 credits of a Lab Science are required, but after Biology, there is choice in fulfilling the next 2 credits, and most Brophy students finish with 4 credits. There are electives available for Senior English, Senior Math, and Senior Religious Studies. Students may opt for either PE or Weights or Advanced PE classes (the latter is for varsity athletics) or even dance classes at Xavier—or a combination of these—to fulfill the 1 credit requirement for Physical Education. There are a number of other electives within the system as well. Courses like
