What effects will excessive caffeine consumption have on the Y generation?
The previous answer pretty much covers the coffee/caffeine part. Caffeine isn’t as much of a problem as many people think (except the addiction, of course). The real problem is all the chemicals & sugar in energy drinks. Coffee helps reduce the chance of Type II diabetes, while energy drinks actually help cause it. Coffee only has 2-3 calories, where energy drinks can have well over a hundred. Coffee can relax you and keep you healthy (in moderation), energy drinks will destroy your health & bone strength as well as make you more dependent on them so you actually perform at a lower level after a while. Also, some energy drinks have been banned in some European countries after some deaths have been attributed to them.
