it depends on so many factors… However one of them may be an over-reaction by the youth to rebel against the overbearing parents. Another may be the childs inability to function without someone controlling or telling them what to do. The latter is usually common in the form of inability to make decisions, seeking approval from outside sources, paralyzing fear of failure or making a mistake, depression, a feeling of entrapment and lack of independence. All of which can and usually do lead to a resentment of the parent, which if unchecked, can really lead of a lot of heartache and disfuntion to both parties in the future. Ultimately, it’s on the individual (youth) to controll these feelings and make their life right. There comes a time in everyones life when they have to step out, buck the world, and say that they’re their own persona nd they’re gonna make it no matter what anyone else thinks or says. I feel ….. The child might grow up being rebellious or on the other spectrum, not feeling as they can do anything. I think it has to do with the child and the way the child finds ways of coping. Either stays rebellious but learns to stand on his/her own two feet, or has problems standing on there own two feet and expects the overbearing mother (parent) to always get them out of messes or financially support them. I feel the child never grows up normal but always on one side of the spectrum never in the middle. My opinion…..

i have 4 friends and they are preachers kids and their parents are toatlly and completly overbearing and trying to shelter them little do they know one is 14 yr old boy whose a horn dog a 19 year old girl who likes to drink a 22 year old guy who was a pot head and a 25 yr old guy who is an alchie (they are siblings)
